COVID-19 Update Communication #44 Ireland

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, our priority has been to safeguard the health and safety of our employees. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate changes to ensure the safety of all our employees, families and communities.

As previously communicated, most public health restrictions are now removed in Ireland.  At Surmodics we have continued to operate controls whilst also reviewing cases in our communities to determine prevention measures for onsite locations in Galway.   The HSE data provided in https://covid19ireland-geohive.hub.arcgis.com/pages/detailed-county-statistics  indicates that there is currently 200 cases or less per 100,000 over 7 days in County Galway and this is sustained for a 2 week period.  As a result, please review changes to Surmodics Ireland Restrictions effective Monday May 9, 2022.

Physical Distancing and Face Masks

  • Social distancing is no longer in effect. However, it is critical to be courteous in hallways and be mindful of other individual’s personal space.

  • Zoning requirements are no longer in effect.

  • Masks are no longer required onsite*. Employees are welcome to continue to wear a mask based on their comfort level and these will continue to be provided in dispensers across the site.

  • The canteen Break Schedule is available here (and posted outside canteen).  Please be aware that we are working to re-introduce seating in the canteen, return the Roscommon room to a meeting room location, remove upstairs coffee dock and update signage across the site.

  • Meeting room plexiglass will be removed however leveraging videoconferencing is still encouraged.

  • Cleanroom plexiglass will remain in place and we will review in the coming months.

  • Staggered shift will remain in place and we will complete a pulse survey to understand feedback.

*except where someone has received COVID-19 positive test, and they are on day 8 to day 10 after isolation.

Temperature Checking and Hygiene

  • Regular hand sanitising and cleaning of workstations  is still required on-site to protect employees.

  • Temperature screening stations will be removed to enter the workplace.  Employees can enter and exit at both locations.

The health and safety of our employee’s has been our top priority throughout the pandemic. If we see a significant uptick in COVID cases or changes to public health guidelines, potential changes to guidelines may be put in place and this may include the re-introduction of some of our COVID restrictions.
